Our training programme is internally and externally accredited and approved for insurance purposes. If mindfulness is to become an established part of the education of children and young people, it is very important that the highest standards of professionalism and integrity are maintained by our trainers. We believe that this is in the interests of all those teaching mindfulness and the adults and young people learning it. Below is an overview of the courses and fee structure.
Post course criteria: After completing the 16hr course, Teachers are invited to submit their Daily Mindfulness Journal to demonstrate they are practicing formal mindfulness and embracing informal mindfulness in their everyday living and teaching environment. Teaching skills are obviously not assessed. However, they will need to understand and learn the age appropriate mindfulness curriculum for children. See below.
TWO DAY TEACHING COURSE – MINDFULNESS IN EDUCATION
Course Format: 2 day programme, delivered in a workshop setting, consisting of 2 x 7hr days or 4 x 3.5hr days.
Certificate: Participants who attend the full programme will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
Course content*
Teachers will be taken through each of the weekly lessons. The training focuses on equipping participants with the necessary skills to deliver our curriculums, through observations of real-time lessons, discussions on pedagogy and teaching practice with peers. The training days start and end with mindfulness sessions, and are interweaved with short practices
Outcomes
Post course criteria: Following completion of the Mindfulness in Education (MiE) course, participants will be asked to deliver the age appropriate lessons twice in the classroom and to provide feedback sheets. (After the children have gone through the 6 week programme, the Teachers can continue with daily mindfulness practices in the classroom of (say) 5mins at the start of the day and reinforcing the mindfulness approach during lessons/play etc.) A trainer from the EFT and Mindfulness Centre may ask to attend these lessons. Once the trainer from the EFT & Mindfulness Centre deems the student teacher of mindfulness to be competent, a Certificate of Accreditation will be awarded. They are then eligible to teach the age appropriate curriculum to children in education. We can discuss practicalities in this regard.
FEES (These are examples only. Each Trainer will have their own fee structure so please enquire beforehand)
Fees have been costed on the school providing a venue and providing equipment (projector and sound system) plus printing of all materials.
The fee is for life so any teacher can attend the same course(s) in a classroom or online environment at any time in the future – subject to availability.
Cost of Investment: MBCT 6 week x 2hr programme or 3 x half days over 3 weeks.
(Recommended that all teachers attend this course). The Mindfulness in Schools project does NOT teach the MBCT programme which makes our training school unique in that regard.
If there are insufficient number of staff available to attend this course, it may be possible for them to join in with another school nearby.
